The Electricity Bill Calculator does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no user accounts, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking. All inputs remain on your device.
01. Introduction
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) governs the collection, use, and protection of information in connection with the Electricity Bill Calculator mobile application (the “Application”). By installing or using the Application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
We have intentionally designed the Application to operate without the collection of personal information. This Policy is provided for transparency and to comply with applicable platform and regulatory requirements.
02. Scope & Definitions
For the purposes of this Policy:
- “Application” means the Electricity Bill Calculator mobile application distributed through Google Play.
- “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with an individual.
- “Device Storage” means the secure local storage area allocated by your device’s operating system to the Application.
- “We”, “us”, “our” refers to the publisher of the Application.
03. Information Not Collected
The Application does not collect, request, or transmit any of the following:
- Name, email address, telephone number, or any other Personal Information
- Geolocation data of any kind (precise or approximate)
- Contacts, calendar entries, photos, files, or media stored on your device
- Advertising identifiers (AAID, IDFA) or other persistent device identifiers
- Usage analytics, behavioural telemetry, or session recordings
- Authentication credentials — the Application has no sign-in or registration system
04. Information Stored Locally
Inputs you enter into the Application — including meter readings, tariff selections, and billing dates — are persisted in the Application’s allocated Device Storage using the operating system’s standard mechanisms. This information remains exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to us, our servers, or any third party.
You may delete this information at any time by clearing the Application’s storage from your device’s system settings or by uninstalling the Application.
05. Network Communications
The Application performs a single network request at launch in order to retrieve the most recently published electricity tariff rates. This request is made to a publicly accessible Firebase Realtime Database endpoint and is subject to the following safeguards:
- The request transmits no Personal Information — only a standard HTTPS GET request for the public rates resource is made.
- No user identifier, device identifier, or session identifier is sent.
- The sole purpose is to keep tariff rates current when the relevant utility revises them.
If the device is offline or the request fails, the Application falls back to a locally cached copy or to bundled rates. The Application remains fully functional without an internet connection.
06. Application Permissions
The Application requests only the minimum permissions necessary for its operation:
- INTERNET — required to retrieve updated tariff rates.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — required to determine whether the device is online before attempting to update rates.
The Application does not request access to the camera, microphone, contacts, location services, external storage, photos, or any other sensitive runtime permission.
07. Third-Party Services
The Application uses Google Firebase Realtime Database solely as a public endpoint for serving tariff rate data. No user data is sent to Firebase. As part of standard server operation, Google may log routine request metadata such as IP addresses; please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy for details on Google’s practices.
The Application does not integrate any analytics SDK, advertising network, attribution provider, crash-reporting service, or behavioural tracking library.
08. Children’s Privacy
The Application is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Because no Personal Information is collected from any user, no special handling of children’s data is required under applicable laws (including COPPA and GDPR-K).
09. Data Security
Because the Application does not transmit Personal Information off-device, there is no server-side data store associated with your usage that could be subject to unauthorised access. Inputs persisted on your device are protected by the security mechanisms of the device’s operating system, including sandboxing and any device-level encryption you have enabled.
10. Your Rights & Choices
You retain full control over the data the Application stores on your device. You may at any time:
- Clear all locally stored Application data through your device’s system settings;
- Uninstall the Application, which removes all associated local data;
- Disable network access for the Application, in which case it will operate using bundled rates only.
Because we do not collect Personal Information, there is no server-side record for us to retrieve, correct, or erase on your behalf.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes will additionally be reflected in a new release of the Application. Your continued use of the Application following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
